This race has a tradition that goes back to 1985. This St. Patty’s Day race celebrates the arrival of spring and the Irish in us all. It began as a race between bars and as a training event for an Irish Olympian. Now, it’s Seattle’s largest single-distance run where the winners cross the finish before the last person starts. The Dash fills 5 kilometers of Seattle streets with a rippling ribbon of green, starting and finishing at Seattle Center, winding through downtown Seattle along 4th Ave, filling the entire street with Irish spirit. Festivities after this race include “Leprechaun Lair family fun” in the Seattle’s Children’s Museum, the Stout Pounders band, a post dash beer garden and an Irish Heritage Week Festival.
